FAQ

  • How Does Our Store Operate?

La Cuisine Des Hayeks is a local home-based micro bakery located in Escondido, CA. We specialize in artisan sourdough bread and baked goods. Our business operates primarily through our website, complemented by local interactions with customers, which we greatly appreciate. Due to our business structure and the perishable nature of our products, we only accept online pre-orders. Our online store opens every Saturday at 1:00 PM (PPT) and closes on Wednesday at 8:00 PM. During this time, customers can place their pre-orders, similar to ordering online, but with the pickup scheduled for Saturday. The exact time window and pickup location will be provided during the checkout before the order is submitted, and we do our best to maintain consistent times and locations each week. Customers are encouraged to sign up and create an account on our website to track their orders and access their purchase history. Please ensure you arrive on time at the pickup location to collect your products.

  • How Can I Place My Order?

Pre-orders open every Saturday at 1:00 PM (PPT) and close Wednesday at 08:00 PM. To place your order, simply visit our secure online store, and you will pick up your order locally in Escondido. The address, date, and time for pickup will be displayed at checkout before you confirm your order, and we do our best to keep the same pickup date and location each week.

  • Can You Place My Order for Me?

For your security, I cannot place orders on your behalf, even if you ask. I do not have access to your credit card information, and our store is designed so that only you can securely enter your payment details.

All payments are processed through WooCommerce/Stripe, a trusted payment provider used by millions of businesses, including many well-known brands. They ensure your information is secure, using the same level of protection as banks. I do not see or store your card details; everything is handled directly and securely through them.

Not at this time.

  • Do You Sell Sourdough Starter?

Currently, we do not offer sourdough starter. However, if you plan to start making your own sourdough bread, we encourage this! Please contact us, and we will do our best to assist you.

  • How Long is the Bread Good For?

Our sourdough bread is best enjoyed fresh, within a few days of baking. Since it contains no preservatives, it typically won’t last much longer. To extend its life, you can freeze the bread. Slice the loaf and freeze individual slices, then toast them when you’re ready to enjoy. For whole loaves, lightly moisten the loaf and reheat it in the oven.

Bread Storage Instructions:

  • For 1-2 Days: Store the loaf on the counter, cut side down. If it becomes a little dry, quickly spray it with water or run it briefly under the faucet, then toast it.
  • For 3-4 Days: Store it in a sealed plastic bag or container and refrigerate. Follow the same reheating instructions as above.
  • For Longer Storage: Freeze the bread as soon as possible in a sealed plastic bag to maintain freshness.

Restoring Frozen Bread:

  • If you prefer a soft crust, thaw the loaf on the counter overnight, and it will be ready for breakfast.
  • For a hot, crispy, oven-fresh taste:

  1. Thaw the loaf overnight (at least 3 hours).

  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  3. Quickly pass your frozen loaf under running water—it sounds unusual, but this quick splash will help keep your loaf moist.

  4. Place the loaf directly on the center oven rack and bake for 20 minutes.

  5. Enjoy it hot from the oven!
